2022 Home report: 7 interior trends you don’t want to miss

It’s still January as I’m writing this blog post and what better way to start the year than with a good trend report.

I’m planning to move house this year so I’ve been particularly interested in what is in right now and what trends are the most likely to resist the test of time. I love a trendy home but I don’t want to have to redecorate in 3 years time!

1- The colour of the year: Emerald green

I have to say this is one of my favourite trend for this year. A bit of a throw back to Victorian times, this vibrant green is a statement in itself. Whether you want to go all in with painted walls and tiles of just a touch of it through cushions or beddings, you cannot go wrong.

My sofa already has some emerald green in it so I think I’m set but I do love those tiles…

I would love to know what your take on this trend is? Would you go for an all green room or just invest in a few key pieces? Let me know in the comments

2- Pastel accents

To contrast the boldness of the emerald green, pairing it with pastel accents seems to be the key to creating a balanced palette for your home. Think light pinks and corals, blues and greys. They are more calming colours and will help your statement pieces to sing.

3- Curves

This trend had been slowly creeping up on us. You’ve probably seem example of fake curved doorways on every design show. I have to say I’m intrigued by some aspects of it, especially in creating curved walls and archways in a home instead of the traditional rectangles. My worry is that this trend will quickly fade away and you’ll be stuck with a dated interior… If you are not a 100% committed to the ideas, maybe only invest in a couple of objects. There’s countless mirrors and candles that will bring home the curves you need. Le Bon Candles on Etsy does great ones.

4- Multipurpose

This trend is definitely up my street. Having lived in small flats for must of my life, I always appreciate a multipurpose object and I always keep that in mind when designing products. From coffee tables you can also use as serving trays, mail holder that double as laptop tidy or cutting board holder, plant stand that can double as nightstands, I’ve got you covered!

5- Biophilic home

You are probably wondering what I’m talking about? Well apparently it’s time to step up your plant game. House plants are not enough anymore, the jungle look is in.

We have all been trying to bring some nature in but the biophilic trend takes it to another level with living walls, indoor trees and more. So buy yourself a good gardening book and get planting 😉

6- Little luxury

This year it’s time to splash out on the everyday. From a fancy bar to incredible wardrobe lighting, there isn’t a corner of your home that doesn’t deserve some lux injection.

Now that we are home more often, ditch that ugly light switch, fix that broken handle and add some well-earned opulence to the mundane.

7- Statement lighting

This year you can go all out on lighting! From pendant light to wall sconce, you can’t go too big or too extravagant. It’s the perfect way to inject personality into your interior and make it truly your own. So don’t be scared and really go for it, light that spark.

I’ve shortlisted a few of the ones I really like and I hope they will inspired you to start looking at lighting in a different way 💡.
